Elbow

The elbow is a hinge joint which consists of two articulations; one between the humerus and ulna (ulnohumeral joint) allowing flexion, and one between the humerus and radius (radiocapitellar joint) allowing rotation of the forearm.

Surrounding the bones are a series of ligaments. There is a complex of ligaments on the external (lateral) aspect of the elbow and one on the internal (medial) aspect. These help support and stabilise the elbow during motion and loading.

Muscles surround the elbow joint. These both control elbow motion and wrist motion.
